The Benefits of a Varied Practice
Tyler Cooper lawyers are not pigeonholed into narrow practice areas at the start of their careers or after a brief rotation period. Rather, our lawyers work in a wide variety of areas in either the litigation area or the business services area. While most of our lawyers eventually concentrate in related or complementary disciplines, that evolution is less a product of a rigidly departmental structure than a reflection of the individual's talents or preferences.
Litigators work on matters as diverse as complex commercial matters, medical malpractice cases, environmental litigation, labor and employment disputes, Constitutional questions, and zoning appeals. Similarly, our business services lawyers counsel corporations and individuals on matters concerning mergers and acquisitions, securities law, health law, employment and qualified retirement benefit plans, intellectual property law, contract negotiations of all kinds, and corporate and commercial finance. Litigators with experience in specialized areas such as employment and environmental law also counsel clients in connection with non-adversarial business matters.
As a firm, we embrace this approach for two reasons. First, we find that our lawyers are more engaged and productive when they experience the challenge and excitement of practicing in numerous areas. Second, and more importantly, we believe that exposure to a variety of disciplines results in a superior lawyer, one with a greater breadth of knowledge, flexibility and creativity upon which to call when counseling clients.
