For more than one hundred and fifty years, Tyler Cooper has demonstrated a commitment to the communities in which our staff and lawyers live and work.  It should come as no surprise, then, that the Connecticut Bar Association's Public Service Award is named for former partner Charles J. Parker, and that the New Haven Legal Assistance Association was founded largely through the efforts of former partner James W. Cooper.

Today, Tyler Cooper continues that tradition through staff and lawyer involvement in a variety of charitable, civic, and non-profit organizations, such as the United Way of Connecticut, Inc., the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the Boys and Girls Club of New Haven, Coordinating Council for Children in Crisis, the Greater Hartford Arts Council, and the Special Olympics, just to name a few.  Many of our lawyers also serve on the boards of numerous area non-profit organizations.

Tyler Cooper affirmed our steadfast commitment to community involvement by creating the Tyler Cooper & Alcorn Foundation in 2005.  The Foundation, which was established in honor of our former Managing Partner Ronald J. Cohen who was severely injured when he was struck by a motorist in November 2002, will assist victims of traumatic or acquired brain injuries and their families.  The Foundation will also seek to support research concerning the treatment of brain injury, as well as make other charitable grants and gifts.
